SAP Business One Web Client Roadmap: What’s Here, What’s Next (and When to Move)

Woman working on a laptop at a desk beside windows overlooking warehouse shelves.

You want SAP Business One to keep pace with your business without a costly reimplementation every few years. You also want a straight answer to a question customers keep asking us this year: what does the web client mean for us, and when should we move?

The SAP Business One web client roadmap, published by SAP in October 2026, sets the browser-based web client as the main home for new SAP Business One features. Finance, payments, and administration arrive in the next release, AI-assisted analytics keeps growing, and version 11 previews in 2027 with continued desktop client support.

We read all 44 pages so you do not have to. This post covers what the web client runs today, what SAP plans next, where AI fits, and how to plan your own move. One caution up front: SAP labels every plan in the road map as current thinking, subject to change, so treat dates and scope as direction rather than promise.

You should not have to guess what your ERP vendor’s plans mean for the business you run every day.

Why SAP Is Putting the Web Client First

SAP is putting the web client first because SAP Business One is a strategic product with 85,000+ customers and 1.2 million+ users, and SAP wants every new feature in one modern interface. The road map names fast adoption of the web client and SAP AI services as a core investment area for growing the customer base.

The web client runs SAP Business One in a standard browser with the SAP Fiori design system, and the web client reads and writes the same company database as the desktop client. Nothing about your data changes. What changes is where your people work, and where SAP spends development effort.

SAP’s Chief Partner Officer described SAP Business One as strategically important within the SAP portfolio and confirmed continued investment, with the partner network at the center of growth. For customers, the message is reassuring. Your ERP has a long future, and the future runs through the browser. Our SAP Business One team took part in SAP’s web client session at SAP Business One Customer Day in September, and the direction was clear in the room.

What the SAP Business One Web Client Covers Today

The SAP Business One web client already covers most daily work: sales and purchasing documents with procurement and dunning wizards, CRM, service, and timesheets, basic finance, payments with the payment wizard, item and business partner master data with pricing, projects, inventory transactions, MRP and production, and document drafts with approvals.

Integration is further along than many customers realize. The web client exports to Excel and Word through Microsoft 365 OneDrive, sends email through Outlook 365, supports user-defined fields, tables, and objects, and runs SAP Crystal reports and layouts. A UI API with webhooks lets partners extend web client views.

Analytics is the standout. Every list view supports filtering, date aggregation, and charts. Overview cards pull from list views, user-defined queries, and KPIs onto one screen. Linked views attach the right analysis to the record in front of you, so a buyer opening a supplier sees the numbers for the supplier without running a separate report.

What Comes Next: Feature Pack 2702

Feature pack 2702, the next planned web client release, extends coverage into finance, payments, banking, and administration. SAP plans fixed assets, period-end closing, cost accounting, budgets, bank statement processing, and credit card management, plus trial balance, balance sheet, customer receivables aging, and cash flow reports inside the browser.

Finance has been the biggest gap in web client coverage, and period-end closing and bank statement processing sit near the top of the list. Once those land in the web client, a controller runs month-end without switching interfaces, and the case for moving whole departments gets much stronger.

The release also adds administration screens for users, the change log, and G/L account determination, localization updates covering the United States and Canada, analytical report printing, and an expanded Ask AI scenario. Feature pack 2702 sits in a steady cadence of service packs and feature packs SAP publishes through version 10, starting with SP 2611.

Version 11 in 2027: What Changes and What Stays

SAP Business One version 11 is planned for an initial preview in 2027. SAP plans simpler installation and upgrades, deployment on leading hyperscaler platforms, native connections to SharePoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive, stronger sign-on and authentication, and selected SAP AI services. The desktop client, SAP HANA, and Microsoft SQL stay supported.

The continued support matters. Version 11 does not force a hard cutover from the desktop client, so you set the pace of your own move. SAP also plans a limited overlap period with version 10 deliveries, which means the upgrade window is real but not open-ended.

Beyond version 11, SAP’s longer-range direction points to wider web client process coverage, better scalability, simpler deployment including containers, predictive and built-in analytics, and a richer service layer API for partners. The direction is consistent: one modern core, extended by partners, reached through a browser.

Where AI Fits in the SAP Business One Roadmap

AI in the SAP Business One roadmap runs on two tracks. SAP builds AI features into the web client, such as AI UDQ and Ask AI, through SAP AI Core. SAP also opens the platform to partner AI extensions through new APIs and sample MCP server code for the service layer, so partners build agents on SAP Business One.

AI UDQ turns a plain-language request into a draft SQL query for your review, then opens the result as a reusable dataset for charts and dashboards. Ask AI answers a question about field values you select, in text, and the user chooses which values get shared. SAP plans dashboard generation from plain language as a next step.

The partner track is where Forge sits. Forge AI is listed in SAP’s AI Partner Innovations Playbook for SAP Business One. Forge reads SAP Business One live through the Service Layer, answers questions in seconds, and drafts transactions for a person to approve. Third Wave is also bringing Forge into the web client, so your team reaches Forge inside the same browser screens used for sales, purchasing, and production. Learn more about Forge AI.

What the Roadmap Means for Your Business

For most SAP Business One customers, the roadmap means three things: new features land in the web client first, finance teams get full web client coverage in the next release, and version 11 gives a 2027 planning horizon. Now is the time to plan the move by role, not by date.

We understand the hesitation. Your team knows the desktop client, your add-ons and reports work, and nobody wants a disruption in a busy quarter. The good news is the roadmap supports a staged move. Sales, purchasing, and service processes are covered in the web client today. Finance roles follow once feature pack 2702 lands.

Add-ons and custom reports deserve a check before anyone switches. Some partner extensions already support the web client through the UI API, and some still run only on the desktop client. Across 500+ SAP Business One implementations with 98.7% client retention, we have mapped the add-on landscape across every industry. We check the add-on picture with you before any role moves.

Waiting has a cost. Teams holding to the desktop client by default miss the analytics, AI features, and Forge integration landing in the browser first. Upgrade windows tighten as version 10 and version 11 overlap. A move planned in 2026 runs on your schedule. A move forced in 2028 runs on someone else’s.

How to Plan Your Web Client Move

Plan your SAP Business One web client move in three steps. Book a conversation with Third Wave, map each role’s daily processes against what the web client covers today and in feature pack 2702, then move in stages, starting with the roles whose work the web client already covers in full.

  • Talk to Third Wave. Book a conversation about your web client plans.
  • Map your roles. Match daily processes and add-ons against current and planned coverage.
  • Move in stages. Start with fully covered roles, then add finance after 2702.

Picture your team a year from now. Sales and purchasing work from any browser. Finance closes the month in the web client. Leaders open overview cards in place of exported spreadsheets, ask plain-language questions of live data, and hand routine work to Forge for approval. Version 11 arrives as an upgrade you planned, not a scramble.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the SAP Business One web client?

The SAP Business One web client runs SAP Business One in a standard web browser using the SAP Fiori design system. The web client reads and writes the same company database as the desktop client, so both work side by side on the same data.

Is SAP replacing the SAP Business One desktop client?

Not yet. SAP plans continued desktop client support in version 11, alongside continued web client enhancements. The web client is where SAP focuses new features, so most customers plan a staged move rather than a hard cutover.

When is SAP Business One version 11 coming out?

SAP plans an initial preview of SAP Business One version 11 in 2027, with further feature packs after release and a limited overlap period with version 10 deliveries. SAP notes all road map plans are subject to change.

What is coming in SAP Business One feature pack 2702?

Feature pack 2702 plans to add finance, payments, banking, and administration to the web client, including fixed assets, period-end closing, budgets, bank statement processing, credit card management, financial reports, and an expanded Ask AI scenario.

Does SAP Business One have AI built in?

Yes. The web client includes AI UDQ, which drafts a query from a plain-language request for your review, and Ask AI, which answers questions on selected field values. Partners such as Third Wave add agents like Forge AI on top.

Will my SAP Business One add-ons work in the web client?

Some add-ons already support the web client through the UI API, and some still run only on the desktop client. Check each add-on with your partner before moving a role to the web client.
